This dissertation presents a methodology for optimal design of portable energy-source systems, leading to an increase in specific energy density. The interaction between the source and converter is considered, which can result in a different system design than when the components are considered separately.CHAPTER 2. OPTIMIZATION REVIEW A power electronic circuit designer typically has more degrees of freedom than constraints. Guidelines are often used to choose parameters, which add the necessary constraints to dictate the design.
