Fredric Lissauer has been an active member of the Cleveland Composers Guild for many years. A graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, his theory and composition instructors include Bernard Heiden (Indiana University), Marcel Dick and Donald Erb. From early 1991 through 1996 he was given casual, but important mentoring by Dennis Eberhard in composition and manuscript preparation. He also offers great deference to the controlled aleatoric disciplines of Witold Lutoslawski, the post micro-polyphony of Gyorgy Ligeti, postminimalism, and the polystylism of Alfred Schnittke as well.

Mr. Lissauer was recently granted a second Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. He has received a premiere performance of his 'String Quartet Op. 25' by the Cavani Quartet and has also had works performed by members of The Cleveland Orchestra, Myriad, and CSU, Oberlin, Baldwin Wallace and CIM faculties.

He is presently engaged in researching concert music of the late twentieth and early twenty first century. In addition to composing contemporary art music, he has also written the book, music and lyrics for several musical theatre presentations, and as well, a large volume of jazz ballads.
